Kakyuu – Hime

fireballSeries: Sailor Moon Sailor Stars

Worn at: Katsucon 2013

Motivation: Honestly any excuse to use fancy fabric, gems, and an awesome wig. I’ve loved this series ever since I was a kid and while I normally choose villains this character is one of the few princess types I just had to make.

Construction: The whole dress is built around a corset that contains 18 peices of steel boning and molded cups. I wanted to use as much over the top fabric as I could to up the “Sailor Moon” quality. The main corset is three layers, a pale blue liner, a heavy duty structure fabric that held the boning, and the decorative outer layer. The outer layer was make with duponi silk, casa satin, and white brocade. The skirt and sleeves where made with holographic organza. The sleeves were given extra structure by putting horse hair braid in the black trim.

Thoughts: I’m a pretty pretty princess. But, no, really I will never get over how well this turned out.
